Rosemary Conley Diet

The Rosemary Conley Diet is part of a franchise that includes various books, a bi-monthly magazine, fitness classes, exercise videos, and an online interactive website.

The diet itself is a low fat diet plan designed to create long term and subtle weight loss results.

Do you have to buy a book – No

Is the diet easy to maintain – Yes

So how does it work?...

The principle of the Rosemary Conley Diet is realizing that fat contains more than twice as many calories as protein and carbohydrates in the same amount of food.

So if you eat one same-size cube each of fat, protein, and carbohydrate, the cube of fat will have far more calories in it.

The idea is to reduce fat intake to only 5% of total diet, which reduces the amount of food you eat by one factor, but the calories you take in by two factors.

The math says it’s essentially twice as effective as cutting the same amount of carbs from your diet. Therefore, this diet is one of the low fat diet plans available.

The program allows oily fish weekly and 1/2 pint of skimmed milk daily, while otherwise promoting three meals a day each with very minimal fat content. Exercise is also emphasized thoroughly in the diet plan to further increase the weight loss.

It helps to burn extra calories and also builds muscle which will increase resting metabolic rate (the number of calories you burn while you just sit around).

There are many fitness classes and exercise videos in the Rosemary Conley Diet franchise.

The Diet Plan...

The main concern of the diet is reducing fat intake to 5% of the diet in order to lose weight. You are however allowed unlimited vegetables (even potatoes) during the day. Certain meats and dairy are also allowed during certain meals. The only snacks that are allowed are at the expense of eating a lighter meal.

Calorie counts do not need to be maintained on the Rosemary Conley Diet, however the counts are given for the meal ideas and recipes that are provided.

Is it good for you?...

The Rosemary Conley Diet book has not just an overall diet plan, but useful advice for dealing with holidays, shopping, eating out, helping family members with their dietary needs, and coping with slip-ups.

The diet plan is well balanced and because it encourages the intake of fish, is not dangerously low in essential fats like some other low fat diet plans.

Dieters who follow the advice and meal plan should lose weight, and the fact that you are allowed unlimited vegetables will help people who struggle with hunger in other diet plans. However this low fat content can become unbearable for many people in the long run.

Inches lost from the body are focused on in the diet plan rather than just weight alone, which is a good thing for many people and provides a better estimate of progress.
